IDP professor launches 3rd edition of the book “Classification of Fundamental Rights”
IDP professor and Federal Judge Jairo Schäfer launches the third edition of his book Classification of Fundamental Rights, revised and expanded. In the work, Jairo Schafer examines doctrinal aspects and jurisprudence related to the classification of fundamental rights, particularly with regard to the possibility of conceiving a validity theory that understands fundamental rights in a unitary way. According to STF Minister Gilmar Mendes, when presenting the work, the “clear and precise text by Professor Jairo Schäfer, combined with the didactic nature of the exhibition – well illustrated with the teachings of Comparative Law and with examples extracted from thorough jurisprudential research that goes beyond national borders – makes the work accessible not only to the academic or legal community. In a simplistic summary, this is a work that is, in fact, a positive recipe for understanding and encouraging the path to full citizenship. Classification of Fundamental Rights from the Generational System to the Unitary System – a Proposal for Understanding, now in its 3rd edition, revised and updated, is one of those publications that, in addition to being born with a true classic profile, offer a real contribution to the improvement of the Rule of Law, especially in societies like Brazil, whose democracy, still beardless, suffers from atavistic social injustice, despite being among the ten largest GDPs on the planet.”
