IDP launches Doctorate in Law
The IDP opens its first class of doctorate in law. The course was authorized by the Ministry of Education - MEC on December 6. In the course, the doctoral student will have contact with the study of constitutional principles and their repercussions on other branches of law, contemplating research on fundamental rights, process and constitutional jurisdiction, proposing new interpretations on various areas of the right to light of constitutional principles.
According to the Doctor and Coordinator, João Bachur, the program is a big step for the academic life of a jurist. “The Doctorate is very important because it allows a very high level academic qualification and opens doors to new professional paths, in addition, it also provides networking in the legal world for every legal operator, whatever their profession”, explains the Coordinator .
The program is coming with an innovative format “Firstly the pedagogical conception, at IDP we seek to understand and investigate the different branches of law based on the structuring role of constitutional law, always with the concern of contributing to the solution of concrete problems in the country . Secondly, the methodology, we use the weekend format, with classes concentrated in fortnightly meetings on Fridays and Saturdays, this allows professionals to combine their professional practice with their academic career”, he explains.
“Thirdly, in our teaching staff we have professors with outstanding academic profiles and work as ministers of higher courts, judges, judges, prosecutors and renowned lawyers, among them authors of reference works. All of this allows for high-level debates in the classroom. Fourthly, internationalization. At IDP, intensive courses abroad are regularly offered, giving doctoral students who work professionally the possibility to experience, intensively, the international academic debate”, concludes the Professor.
The IDP Doctorate will have several professors of the highest quality during the period of its training, such as the Minister of the Superior Federal Court and Doctor in Constitutional Law, Gilmar Mendes, Minister of the Superior Court of Justice and Doctor in Law, Paulo Sanseverino, the Doctor in Law and Government Manager at CADE, Laura Schertel, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic and Doctor in Law, Paulo Gonet Branco and Doctor in Law the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ricardo Cueva.
Applications for the Doctorate will be available from February 17th, followed by an interview from February 20th to 23rd and finally, classes starting in March. The duration of the course usually varies between 3 and 4 years.
