“An audio-only social network?” This last week you probably saw a lot of people asking this question when talking about Clubhouse and in the end they asked themselves the same question. But after all, where did it come from and what is the purpose of this new application.
Rohan Seth and Paul Davidson created the audio-focused social network in April 2020 and since Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, created an account and opened his forum, the social network has not left the most talked about topics. In addition to Elon Musk, names like Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, Camila Pitanga and Gregório Duvivier are already present on the social network.
There you can find people to talk to about a wide range of topics, from economics with Nath Finance to a chat about Big Brother Brasil. At first glance you might think that the forums work like a bar table conversation, that is, but depending on the room you need to ask the moderator to speak. Many rooms can function as a kind of lecture, in which only the moderators speak.

The social network was created with that hint of exclusivity: for now it is only available to iPhone users and to create your account you need to receive an invitation. It's been a long time since the launch of a social network that only allowed guests to join, remember the beginning of Orkut?
Each Clubhouse user has the right to send two invitations from the application, which ended up creating a “market” around the social network. A kind of e-commerce emerged, people started selling invitations, prices vary between R$150.00 and R$279.00.
Another way to join the social network, you can download the app and join a kind of waiting list. The application crosses your contact list, Twitter or Instagram and in this case, if any of your contacts are on Clubhouse you receive an invitation without the person losing one of the two that each account entitles them to.
