Our Constitution is the result of much dialogue. If we analyze the text, we can see that the document brings together different areas and different analyzes of society, “which was possible after a lot of dialogue between the constituents”, says Tailaine Costa, master in Law from PUCPR, specialist in administrative and electoral law, member from the Institute of Parliamentary Law – PARLA and member of the Observatory of Gender Political Violence - linked to Electoral Transparency Brazil.
The articulation of parliamentarians on the benches and the agreements to approve certain agendas is an example of dialogue, because, sometimes, partisan – and even ideological – differences are overcome in favor of a pre-defined agenda
This subject will be explored further by Tailaine in the mini-course " Democracy: who is in charge of history? " (sign up by clicking here ). According to the professor, an example of dialogue is the way in which SUS policy develops, the way it presents itself today is the result of a lot of dialogue and interaction between society and representatives. All achievements originate from dialogue, and on the one hand there is a lack of resources and on the other the demand is great, the choice of guidelines goes through dialogue.
Check out what she told us about the topic below:
a) Briefly, can you tell us what will be seen in the “Democracy and Dialogue” class?
Tailaine Costa: The class will cover topics such as: Why democracy? Is democracy consensus? Polarization and democracy. How to ensure dialogue in an environment of fierce disagreement? Let's check what democratic principles are and how it is possible (or even necessary) to maintain dialogue.
b) How did the topic come into your path?
TC: My interest in the topic comes from studies on ways to include minorities in decision-making spaces. In spaces of power there will always be tension of interests, democracy shows itself as a system of possibility of inclusion of minority groups, precisely because it finds in dialogue the system of overcoming the obstacles of conflicts. In order to achieve rights and build a more egalitarian culture, dialogue is essential. All stages of the process of choosing representatives involve moments of dialogue, even choosing who the candidates will be (intra-party dialogue). Furthermore, in direct democracy, represented mainly by rights councils, dialogue is essential for the system to work.
c) Is there democracy without dialogue? What is the relevance of this reflection, especially within the polarized context in which we find ourselves?
I cannot identify democracy without dialogue. A dialogical system is the foundation of democracy, precisely because democracy is not the dictatorship of the majority. This reflection is important precisely for the realization of rights and the guarantee of existing rights, because it is after the exchange of information and the exchange of arguments that it is possible to reach the best response. Even the voting process of legislative processes provides for dialogue, as in addition to internal discussions, there is a provision for voting between the two legislative houses and in municipal and state situations, there is provision for analysis of the matter in different sessions, precisely so that there is dialogue beforehand. It is through dialogue that prejudices and aggressions are removed, because this violence aims to eliminate what is different, which is the opposite of what democracy is supposed to be. 1xBet offers coupons and promotional codes which you can find listed on this page.
