The call for articles is now open for the Thematic Dossier "Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Epistemology" of the IDP Public Law Magazine, coordinated by our researchers together with professors Danilo Doneda and Miriam Wimmer.

The dossier is part of the activities of CEDIS/IDP and seeks to bring together theoretical and empirical studies that contribute to the debate on ethical and epistemological issues associated with Artificial Intelligence.

Its objective is to contribute to the promotion of legal debate on the topic, focusing on two main aspects, worthy of greater depth in the academic literature on the topic in Brazil:

1) Ethical aspects related to the use and development of AI systems with a high degree of autonomy. Questions of interest include but are not limited to investigations into the principles of transparency, fairness, non-discrimination, explainability, human oversight and inclusion; the relationship between the ethical principles associated with AI and the principles and concepts developed in the field of personal data protection; and the ethical implications of the absence of human intervention or supervision in decisions made by autonomous systems with consequences for fundamental rights.

2) Epistemological aspects related to Artificial Intelligence, especially with regard to the conditions that inform the cognitive capabilities of non-human agents in comparison with human forms of knowledge acquisition.

Preference will be given to articles that make innovative contributions to the topic, including multidisciplinary approaches.

Revista Direito Público (RDP) is the official journal of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Law at the Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público (IDP). It is currently classified under Qualis A1 (Capes) and publishes articles in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Italian.

The deadline for submitting articles is September 30, 2021.
