International Chair Danilo Doneda opens call to researchers at Summer School 2025

The International Chair Danilo Doneda (ICD) is open for Summer School , which will take place from May 12 to 14, at the headquarters of the Brazilian Institute of Teaching, Development and Research ( IDP ), in Brasilia. The initiative is carried out in partnership with NIC.br (Ponto BR Information and Coordination Center) and will bring together national and international researchers, teachers and experts to discuss contemporary challenges of the intersection between law and internet.
Summer School 2025 will feature intense programming that includes classes, short courses and selected searches presentation. The event aims to strengthen academic background and foster the production of knowledge about internet governance and digital law , focusing on five major topics:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cybersecurity
- Sustainability
- Promotion to national technology and sovereignty
- Economic regulation of digital markets and data protection
Researchers may present their research
The call is open to up to 10 researchers , who will have the opportunity to exhibit their work on the last day of the event (14/05) and participate in all programming activities. Masters, doctoral students and researchers who have completed their courses between 2022 and 2024 can apply.
Entries run from March 31 to April 20 , and interested parties must send full documentation, including proof of enrollment or recent diploma, research summary, motivation letter and curriculum. The selection of the works will consider criteria such as thematic relevance, research stage development, academic impact and candidate profile, as well as promote regional, racial, gender and training level diversity.
International participation and emerging themes
This year's edition will be attended by two renowned international experts:
- Dr. Indra Spiecker of Goethe University (Germany), a specialist in Information Law and Data Protection.
- Dr. Christiane Woopen of the University of Bonn (Germany), a reference in Bioethics, Technology and Human Rights, acting on international councils, such as the European Commission and UNESCO.
The guests will contribute in -depth reflections on the impacts of new technologies on society, expanding interdisciplinary dialogue on ethics, regulation and innovation.
Participation modalities
In addition to the presenter researcher category, Summer School will also offer:
- 50 vacancies for regular participants (with access to all programming)
- 200 vacancies for exclusive participation in the Magna Class , on May 12th.
DANILO DONEDA chair is recognized for stimulating the scientific production of excellence and the formation of a new generation of experts in the field of law and the internet. The program also seeks to strengthen the protagonism of researchers from the Global South, with actions that encourage the inclusion and development of national solutions. The disclosure of the selection results will be made by April 25 , and those selected should confirm presence by April 30 .
