It is with great regret that we communicate the death of jurist and professor Antôno Augusto Cançado Trindade, Judge of the International Court of Justice, this Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Brasilia.

Professor Cançado Trindade leaves behind a vast body of work dedicated to International Law and Human Rights. In addition to being a Judge at The Hague since 2009, he was a Judge at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, a court he presided over. He was Professor Emeritus at the University of Brasília, Professor at the Rio Branco Institute, member of the Institut de Droit International and the Brazilian Academy of Legal Letters.
