The advancement of new technologies and the internet has optimized social life, but has also created fertile ground for criminal practices. The transition of information and data support from governments and companies from manual and analog modeling to digital – a process that gained even more strength and speed amid the Covid-19 pandemic – boosted virtual crime. Criminal organizations are increasingly sophisticated and use instruments such as cryptocurrencies and bank fraud to operate and hide their illegal enterprises. In this context, through expository classes, the course aims to develop a critical sense regarding the topic, addressing the impact of cybercrimes on public security, the difficulties of investigating crimes of this nature, existing international cooperation mechanisms and the use of cryptocurrencies by organized crime.
