“Launch of the CIPL and CEDIS-IDP Joint Report”
CIPL and CEDIS-IDP invite you to a webinar organized as part of our joint project on “Effective LGPD”. This webinar will feature simultaneous translation between English and Portuguese.
The LGPD requires data controllers to appoint a person to be responsible for the organization's data processing activities (Article 41), the “data protection officer” or, as commonly known in other jurisdictions, the DPO (data protection officer). The obligation to appoint a DPO under the LGPD comes with many questions and challenges, which will be addressed during this webinar. CIPL and CEDIS-IDP invited key experts from Brazilian and global organizations to outline international best practices regarding the role of the DPO and assist organizations in implementing the requirements for a DPO under the LGPD.
Some of the topics to be covered during this webinar include:
1. Considerations for the effective performance of a DPO
2. The functions of the DPO
3. Uncertainties regarding the role of the DPO under the LGPD, including the DPO's personal liability under the Brazilian legal regime
We suggest reading the joint CIPL & CEDIS-IDP report on the role of the DPO under the LGPD, which is available in English and Portuguese, and will be the basis of our discussions.
