Discover the LAIPP of the IDP School of Management, Economics and Business

Discover the IDP Public Policy Assessment and Innovation Laboratory (LAIPP) at the IDP School of Management, Economics and Business.
The Public Policy Assessment and Innovation Laboratory (LAIPP) aims to bridge the visible gap between academia and society. Through the publication of texts that make world-renowned “knowledge translations” - where research with complex methodologies published in the most respected scientific journals and which provide lessons and evidence on public policies are explained in a simple and concise way - LAIPP seeks to assist public agents in decision making and contribute to public debate.
With publications every Tuesday and Thursday, also posted on Twitter and Instagram ( @laipp_idp ), empirical evidence related to topics relevant to society, such as education, health, labor market and environment, is covered. In the LAIPP article repository it is possible to search by area of interest, country where the study was carried out, the methodology used, and it already has numerous texts, such as the one that questions whether microcredit reduces poverty. In it, the 2019 Nobel Prize winners in economics - Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo - evaluate the effects of access to microcredit through an experiment carried out with low-income families in India's fifth largest city.
Another article that can be cited as an example is “Does information for parents help with children’s academic performance?” in which the authors Bettinger, Cunha, Lichand and Madeira carried out an experiment with ninth grade students in São Paulo where parents received one of the sets of information via SMS: either data on school attendance and effort or messages that highlighted the importance of observing the children's school behavior.
