IDP completes international summer module
Between the 13th and 21st of January, the Professional Master's Degree in Public Administration held its summer module: a period with subject offerings in a condensed format, which allow students to anticipate their studies, with progression in their workload. For 2023, the big difference was the offer of an entirely international module!
The IDP received visiting professors Rolando Garrido Quiroz , Executive President of the Institute for Collaborative Innovation & Strategic Dialogue (INCIDES) , and Angelo Lalli, from the Università degli studi di Roma "La Sapienza", who taught the subjects “4D Negotiation” and “Sustainability , ESG, Ethics & Compliance”, respectively.
Professor Angelo highlighted the thematic importance of the subject taught and the knowledge that the students presented on the main issues related to climate change, pollution and public policies. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of bringing together Brazilian and Italian institutions for debate and discussion on the topic. According to the professor, the exchange between Brazilian and Italian scholars is very interesting, especially with regard to environmental law and sustainable development, given the great environmental challenges that both countries face. From his point of view, the way in which Brazilian public environmental policies are managed is crucial for the global environment, as the ecosystems existing in Brazil provide ecosystem services for the entire world.
Student Luiz Eduardo Sá Roriz, participant of the “Sustainability, ESG, Ethics & Compliance” course, highlighted that the main objective of the discipline was fulfilled, which is “ cultural and scientific exchange, highlighting IDP as an appropriate teaching entity and integrated with globalization, allowing students more knowledge and resourcefulness in their professional practice.” According to his report, the topic is highly relevant, given the growing need for professionals in the public sector to carry out periodic recycling and immediate adaptation of new precepts applied to governance. For him “the new actions of integrity, governance, risk management, sustainability, compliance and, mainly, Ethics, have become irreversible on this path, without any possibility of return. Therefore, this path is the path to building a modern State compatible with the new world order in force.”
Additionally, student Átila Feitosa Castelo Branco Dantas, who participated in the “4D Negotiation” , highlighted that the dynamics of negotiation tables carried out in the classroom encouraged thinking outside the box, in addition to helping to put into practice the knowledge acquired in the last course evaluation exercise. The student also highlighted that the experience brought scientific support to associate the academic world with its corporate environment, where it works with issues of crisis management, risks, compliance, governance and ESG. This was Átila's second opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange promoted by IDP and he reinforced that “these initiatives add to research beyond the educational frameworks that are ordinarily available to us.”
The IDP promotes exchange actions aimed at generating new academic, cultural and professional experiences for our students, teachers, graduates and the linked community. These actions take place through exchange programs, with selection notices, aiming to promote these experiences in foreign educational institutions, such as the reception of teachers and researchers at the IDP to develop disciplines, research and studies.
