The first course of the initiative is focused on journalism
Executive Education is IDP’s newest project. In this new venture, the Institution will carry out short-term training, aimed at professionals, with specific and current themes. The first course will be "Law for Journalists", will last 32 hours and is scheduled to start on March 25th.
The course for journalists aims to equip communication professionals with the procedures, language and structure of the legal world, to assist them in understanding, analyzing and independently criticizing this field.
For the course coordinators and IDP professors, Eric Hadmann Jasper and Henrique Arake, the course has a training nature for all professionals who work with media. "The journalist's role is to inform society and for this we want to train them by bringing them closer to the terms, rites and procedures used in the legal world and thus translate them appropriately for the population", explain the teachers.
One of the topics that will be addressed is "Limits of press freedom and accountability", which will discuss the limits of exercising the profession of journalist, addressing the right to image and privacy, possible forms of accountability, both individual and media outlets , whether in the civil or criminal spheres.
In addition to these subjects, the course will also cover the "Introduction to the legal system and the Brazilian State", "Legal aspects of the journalist profession", "Themes in Law and Politics” and will also feature a meeting with professionals specialized in covering the judiciary.
