IDP organizes training course aimed at careers in the Public Service
IDP held on November 23rd and 24th an open training course for high school students on the possibilities of a career within the public service. The IDP received prominent professionals from the most diverse areas of public service to dialogue with the students, about “day to day” as a government official.
According to the creator of the event, the Doctor and Coordinator of the Public Administration course, Diogo Ribeiro, the IDP course has the function of demonstrating to students the possibilities of a career in public service. “The main thing is to make the candidate make a decision about their degree and career in a more conscious way. In general, students will make these decisions based on family and close friends, but it is not always the opinion of an expert who works in that area, and the public area is incredibly varied and covers all types of interests”, explains the Coordinator.
Among the students on the training course, 17 young people with hearing impairment attended, seeking accessibility, 2 professionals were hired in pounds by the IDP.
Student Willer Barbosa was one of the students who attended the event and said that this type of inclusion is very important for the hearing impaired. “Today, deaf people have fought hard for their rights and within the public service, I think they have a greater opportunity within some specific areas, such as letters, although there are still few, we think that public administration can offer more opportunities for us”, comments the student.
Andreia Ferreira is a Public Administration IDP student, has a hearing impairment, and comments on her experience with college: “I spoke to the teachers before classes started and explained my needs of needing the material in advance, explaining it in front of the class, because I I read lips and my classmates help me with the subjects too”, concludes the student.
The institute received about 80 interested in building a career in the public service during the two days of the event
