IDP professor is nominated as evaluator in the main Brazilian public management award
IDP teacher Alex Cavalcante Alves was selected to participate in the evaluation board of the 23rd edition of the Innovation Contest, the main public management award of Brazil. The event promoted by ENAP - National School of Public Administration seeks to reward teams of public servants that contribute to innovations for the improvement of the state. The evaluation for the winners will take place until August and the event is scheduled for October 2019.
The Professor explains that the event aims to achieve the best for the country's public administration. “ Thinking "outside the box" is essential for those who work in a sector as challenging as the public sector. However, we can never forget our basic mission, "rice and beans", which is to serve the population in the best way possible. Our daily challenge is to reconcile the routine of paying attention to society's demands with the creativity to create, test and implement innovative solutions applicable to these routines.”, comments the Professor.
According to the Professor, his experience in IDP classrooms contributes to carrying out this type of work. “ Teaching means not allowing yourself to become obsolete and never considering yourself "owner of the truth". Every time a student asks a challenging question, we study, learn and teach. It is a cycle where both teacher and student benefit from learning. To perform the managerial functions that I currently carry out in the public sector, teaching undergraduate courses in Public Administration means always being in contact with quality literature on the topic that guides all of our activities. We always try to reverse this assimilated knowledge in favor of better service provision” adds the Professor.
For the Academic, it is a great recognition to be able to participate as an evaluator in this competition.“ The feeling is one of gratitude for the recognition of an academic, professional and personal trajectory, in constant construction, which has been dedicated to improving public management. It is undoubtedly a reason for great pride, and it is something that I welcome as a valuable mission resulting from dedication to the cause of improving public service”, concludes the Master.
We at IDP are extremely grateful to have professionals specialized in so many areas and above all, for having so many professionals who stand out in their respective domain fields! Congratulations, Professor Alex! It is a pride to have you in our faculty!
