IDP TEACHERS AND STUDENTS win Brazil's biggest data journalism award
The 8th edition of the Brazilian Conference on Data Journalism and Digital Methods (Coda.Br), recognized on November 19th the finalists of the biggest data journalism award in Brazil, the Cláudio Weber Abramo award. Among the selected works selected is the report “Revealing and organizing the corporate card invoices of all former Brazilian presidents” which features the participation of IDP Data Journalism MBA professors, Bruno Morassutti and Taís Seibt, and also by our former student, Alexandre Facciolla.
Winner in the Open Data category, their award-winning report was used in more than a thousand reports in media outlets around the world. For Taís, professor of the discipline Methodology and Workflow with Data, the great success was due to the joint work of several professionals ''It was necessary to mobilize many journalist partners in this task force to digitize the invoices so that more journalists, from all over the world, country, had access to this information”, explains Taís.

Also awarded, the ''Amazon Underworld'' project, which involves the participation of another MBA professor, Juan Torres, was honored in the Research category. The work brings together reports from 37 journalists that shed light on organized crime in the largest forest in the world and allows mapping the presence of armed groups on the Amazon borders. Juan is a professor of the Low Code discipline: transforming data into an agenda.
The 5th edition of the Cláudio Weber Abramo Data Journalism Award is part of an Initiative by the Data School and has as its evaluation panel great renowned professionals in the field, including our professor, Júlia Giannella.
