International Seminar “The Economy Moved to Data”. Subscribe and participate!
Next Wednesday and Thursday (06 and 07/06), the international seminar “The data-driven economy: regulatory challenges to guarantee innovation and protect personality” will be held in Brasília.
Organized by professors from the Brasiliense Institute of Public Law (IDP), Laura Schertel Mendes and Danilo Doneda, the event is promoted by the IDP Center for Studies in Law, Internet and Society (Cedis/IDP), of the Telecommunications Law Study Group from the University of Brasília (GETEL/UnB) and the Brazilian Institute of Civil Law (IBDCivil).
According to the organizers, the recent approval by the Chamber of Deputies of the Data Protection bill confirms the urgency of a complete approach to the effects of the processing of personal data in the Information Society. The topic in Brazil is not yet the subject of specific regulation, but its regulatory contours are in the process of maturing.
During the seminar, issues such as the protection of personality on the internet and the jurisprudence of the STJ will be addressed, as well as the European regulation of personal data and its effects on the Brazilian regulatory framework.
On the first day, the event will be attended by Min. Ricardo Villas-Bôas Cueva (STJ), professors Indra Spiecker genannt Döhmann and Astrid Wallrabenstein (University of Frankfurt, Germany), Ana Frazão (UnB), Bruno Gencarelli (European Union ), Laura Schertel Mendes (UnB and IDP), Alexandre Sankievikz (IDP) and Carlos Oliveira (minister of the European Union Delegation).
On its second day, a round table will be held on the legislative panorama of personal data protection in Brazil, with the participation of the bill's rapporteur, Deputy Orlando Silva, Danilo Doneda (IDP), Fabrício Mota (Advisor to the Federal Senate ), Cláudio Nazareno (Legislative Consultant at the Chamber of Deputies), Marcos Pinto (Civil House), Nathalie Gazzaneo (Facebook) and Bia Barbosa (Intervozes), moderated by Guilherme Pinheiro (IDP).
