Laudelina – Interdisciplinary Center for Leadership and Diversity is a planning and support project for initiatives that promote diversity and leadership, linked to the coordination of the IDP schools – School of Communication, Creativity and Arts (ECOM); School of Management, Economics and Business (EGEN) and School of Law (EDIR).
We seek to encourage reflection and debate on topics related to leadership and diversity and contribute to sociocultural development and social inclusion within and outside the IDP. Therefore, we work to ensure that these themes reach students, teachers and employees of the institution, as well as the external community.
Our work is carried out in three ways:
We record and catalog activities of research and study groups that work in the field of leadership and diversity.
We promote new projects, courses, webinars, workshops, etc. for internal and external audiences.
We encourage the creation of new projects through guidance and publication of funding notices.
The Women's Leadership Lab is a project aimed at IDP undergraduate and postgraduate students, which aims to promote reflection and debate about women's place in leadership spaces. Held annually, it consists of five meetings and coordinated by Larissa Ushizima and Renata Malheiros, renowned professionals in the market, who work directly with the theme.
The topics covered throughout the classes are designed based on diagnoses drawn up with the participation of IDP students, which brings relevant subjects to the Lab that are directly related to their routines and desires.

Larissa Ushizima : CEO and co-founder of the Alumna mentoring program. Master in International Affairs from The New School, specialist in Political Analysis and bachelor in International Relations, both from the University of Brasília (UnB).
Renata Malheiros : National Coordinator of Women's Entrepreneurship at SEBRAE and Co-founder of the Alumna mentoring program. Master in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Boosting diversity means understanding that multiplicity is normal. The white, heterosexual, Eurocentric man is not neutral, nor the model to be followed and inequality is neither necessary nor sustainable. As Nancy Fraser explains, the redistribution-recognition dilemma needs to move towards a society that guarantees opportunity and visibility. The university has a fundamental role in building collective consciousness and transforming prejudices, the IDP gets it right when it allows these issues to guide, in a transversal way, academic development.

“The act of speaking is a negotiation between the speaker and the listener. Someone can speak (only) when their voice is heard." This phrase by Prof. Grada Kilomba struck me the minute I read it. Who is heard? Who is read? Who teaches? Who is elected? Who chooses those hired? Who defines public policies? Who has power? Who has money? Who wrote the constitution? Unfortunately, all efforts to create a set of rules that guarantee equality have not yet been enough to overcome the differences that years of silencing have imposed on black people (these ), to the women, indigenous people and LGBTQIA+ people. Initiatives that promote the themes of Leadership and Diversity shed light on these issues and help to reverberate the voices of those who, for years, continue to speak without being heard.

The idea of LAUDELINA is incredible, I feel that IDP is becoming more prepared every day to welcome different students with different perspectives and objectives. Working with young, female and social leadership means building a society that gradually expands its space and escapes the ordinary. The 21st century presents a series of challenges: from tackling known inequalities to the COVID pandemic, the last twenty years indicate that collective action is essential for us to evolve as a global society. In Brazil, intersectional studies on inequalities show us a way forward: the development of public policies aimed at promoting gender and racial equality. In this sense, studying, understanding, inspiring and promoting diversity in leadership positions, both in public positions and in the private sector, needs to be part of Brazilian daily life, towards the development of a free, fair and egalitarian society. The intersectional perspective, with its multiple perspectives of diversity, is a “lens” through which we can see our present and plan our future.

LAUDELINA is another way for IDP to demonstrate the value of its entire student body, teachers and collaborators. The importance of a diverse environment is increasingly evident, but knowing how to provide a welcoming environment that encourages differences and acceptance is even more important. This is what LAUDELINA proposes. As a woman and leader, I feel that IDP encourages us to occupy our space and gives us the opportunity to show our best selves.

We are at an important moment of reflection, at the university, on the conditions of knowledge production, who this knowledge interacts with, how it impacts society, whether or not it contributes to the deepening of democracy. Initiatives like LAUDELINA are fundamental to this debate, which always needs to be carried out with subjects generally excluded from academia. Especially black students, from traditional, LGBTQIA communities need to participate and feel that there is a receptive environment. LAUDELINA plays a fundamental role in creating this space.
