The student and president of the IDP debate society, Cristiane Peixoto has won prominent positions in her last two competitions. Public Speaking competition the IDP student was one of the finalists, while at the Rio-SP tournament, which took place during November 15 and 17, eventually won the post of runner-up.
Cristiane says that the debates stimulate her constant evolution. “I see it as a constant challenge for myself. I always try to be better than before and, therefore, I focus on readings about argumentative structure, new oratory strategies and devices on how to best engage the attention of the audience present,” comments the student.
For the student, participating in debates has a lot to add. “I think it is a healthy movement to exchange diverse knowledge, especially oratory, public speaking, argumentation containing a solid basis of ideas, it has everything to do with what we we want for our country. With all this, it is possible to develop in academic and professional areas, expanding your horizons”, explains Cristiane
For the Undergraduate, the IDP is an essential part of the process. “The IDP helps with an entire support apparatus, providing the highest quality education, thus naturally increasing the intellectual level of the institution's debaters, in addition to providing us with rooms on a weekly basis so that we can meet,” Concludes the Student.
SDIDP meetings take place at IDP, Saturdays 14h and Wednesdays 17h.
