The group is structured in a context in which several initiatives at a global level have been taken in order to establish guidelines for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, with the well-being of human beings as its maximum value.
With this, Ethics4AI wishes to contribute to the development of know-how regarding ethical and reliable AI in Brazil, acting as a point of articulation between academics and representatives of the public, private and civil society sectors, developing, through a collective construction, initiatives that contribute to the ethical development of AI in Brazil, such as online publications in Portuguese, guides and recommendations on AI ethics.
The Research group aims to examine and discuss books, articles and other materials that address the topic of developing ethical and reliable artificial intelligence, involving topics such as:
● detection and correction of discriminatory biases present in algorithms;
● debates surrounding surveillance through the use of artificial intelligence systems;
● the discussion regarding the fairness of automated decisions;
● the use of artificial intelligence by the Judiciary;
● the regulation and governance of artificial intelligence;
● the impact of artificial intelligence on contemporary societies
