SEMINAR PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION AND ELECTIONS
SEMINAR PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION AND ELECTIONS
Between the 26th and 27th of July, Monday and Tuesday, the “Personal Data Protection and Elections Seminar” will take place. Organized by the Data Protection and Elections 2021 Study Group, the event features the participation of Colin Bennett, an expert in privacy and surveillance policies, and professor at the University of Victoria.
The 2021 Data Protection and Elections Study Group is composed of CEDIS/IDP, InternetLab, Data Privacy Brasil and Instituto Liberdade Digital. The objective of the seminar is to encourage and assertively contribute to discussions surrounding the challenges for regulation and application of the LGPD in electoral processes, in a way that mobilizes fundamental questions about guaranteeing privacy and protection of personal data in democratic processes with actors of such fields, as well as civil society.
The event marks the launch of the “Report of Recommendations for the current Brazilian framework”, prepared by the Study Group on Data Protection and Elections, with recommendations for the application and consideration of the LGPD in electoral processes, seeking to fill gaps and promote greater convergence between the fields of data protection and electoral law.
Participating in the seminar are the Director of CEDIS/IDP Laura Schertel and professor Miriam Wimmer, Director of the National Data Protection Authority and leader of the Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Law Research Line at CEDIS/IDP. The teachers will talk about “The regulation and application of the LGPD in elections” on 07/27 at 5pm.
CEDIS/IDP supports this event, together with: InternetLab, Instituto Liberdade Digital and Data Privacy Brasil.
The transmission will take place through the Zoom platform and will have simultaneous translation. Registration is free.
