From grandiose political coverage to the centers of power, the importance of Brasília's journalism for the rest of the country is undeniable. If you've been connected to the main television news or even on social media, you've probably already heard about the names we're going to talk about today. Journalists who are synonymous with respect, recognition and who are living proof that the possibilities within the profession are countless.
See this list we have put together with important names that passed through our capital and dedicated a lot to get to where they are and stay relevant:
Poliana Abritta
The current face of Fantástico, the famous Rede Globo program, left our square. Graduated in journalism here in Brasília, she began her career at the station's local newspaper at the age of 21 as a reporter, and worked her way up covering other nationally broadcast editions until moving to New York in 2014, becoming the station's international correspondent.
But Abritta's destiny was not abroad, today, with more than 20 years at the broadcaster, shortly after returning to Brazil in 2014, she took charge of Fantástico, where she has worked until then.
''Brasília is in my blood, it is in my essence to this day. [...] It is very important for a reporter to be able to work in Brasília. Even if the person has no intention of covering politics forever. It gives you experience, mischief, training for any coverage that comes later.''
Tadeu Schmidt
With a respected surname in the world of sports, Tadeu graduated in journalism here in Brasília and despite not being born in the capital, he took the first steps of his career, back in 1997, here in the city.
With a clear direction in Communication, the presenter has extensive experience on his CV such as Radiobrás, Rádio Nacional and TV Nacional. But don't think that Tadeu abandoned the sport for good, with precious knowledge in the area and an exceptional track record within sports journalism, in 2013 he replaced Zeca Camargo in the presentation of Fantástico, sharing the screen with his colleague, also from Brasília, Poliana Abritta.
“When there was a sports report, people naturally asked me to cover it, because of my past and my family’s past. Sport became easier for me, too, because it’s easier to report, to do journalism with what you know best – and what I know best, without a doubt, is sport.”
Hugo Gloss
Born in Brasília, journalist Bruno Rocha became a phenomenon on social media, who now has more than 18 million followers on Instagram alone. It secured an important position in the chapter of Brazilian journalism by innovating, combining communication and entertainment, guaranteeing originality in the text and also with a reliable investigation of its news.
The name Hugo Gloss came from a pun on the famous luxury brand, but the face behind the Twitter sensation since 2007 was discovered by Luciano Huck, securing a coveted position in the global broadcaster's newsroom. Bruno became a respected name within the niche and transformed his persona into an extremely successful business.
''I work in entertainment, but not only that. I try to deal with things that I like and that really interest me: a phone launch, a film launch, a spoiler, a soap opera, a couple that separates, that gets together... Everything can be on the agenda. The difference is always the approach, the humor, the way it is told. The biggest mistake, in any case, is not investigating, posting without being sure, giving wrong information.''
