If you have a keen eye for the world of advertising, you may have already noticed an increasing movement among brands seeking to portray diversity and plurality in their advertisements. But this is not always an easy task, just a quick look at the comments of campaigns led by LGBTQIA+ people/couples and it is possible to notice a strong conservative wave with a disapproving look.
Therefore, it is important to align the discourse and leave crisis management in place if the brand is not well consolidated and committed to its values and positions. But, if on the one hand '' haters gonna hate '', on the other hand, increasingly conscious (and demanding) consumers admire brands that do not give up on taking a stand and embracing social causes.
Pride month
June is officially LGBTQIA+ Pride Month , a date that recalls the struggles of a community that still seeks daily basic items such as respect, equality and also for its place in the sun, but that never stops celebrating with pride diversity and the fact of being who is it.
When we think in a national context, the date becomes even more important considering that we live in the country that kills the most transsexuals and transvestites in the world . Proof of this is the retrograde debate that gained repercussion in recent months, where the vote on bill 504/20 , which aimed to ban advertising containing sexual diversity in the state of São Paulo. The allegation was that this type of advertising causes "emotional discomfort to countless families" and that it also contains practices that harm the education of children and adolescents.
This entire discussion generates the following reflection: if one of the pillars of advertising is the fact that it is the expression of reality, and, in the real world, there are LGBTQIA+ families, what does this bill mean between the lines?
But let's talk about good things? We have separated five current and inspiring advertisements for you to see in practice how brands have been bringing more inclusive advertising and starting the month of June on the right foot remembering that love is love, in every way possible:
