Have you ever felt stuck in moments of distraction? Or have you ever felt like you weren't 100% present at a certain moment? Autopilot style really, those moments when we end up doing things without even realizing it and when we realize it the day is over!
Remember when you sat down to study for a test and when you least expected it your head jumped from the book to a song? Or when you stared at the computer screen for a few seconds without knowing what to do, even with a day full of work demands?
We don't even need to blame our cell phones to justify our distractions, they can happen in many different ways. But the practice of Mindfulness has arrived to show that there are ways to turn our attention to the task we must do in these moments of escape.
After all, what is Mindfulness?
To facilitate understanding, it is worth remembering that mindfulness is also called full attention. The name says a lot here, it is the practice of being in the present as consciously as possible, paying attention to each situation, movement and breathing.
We know it's something very complicated, but it's the practice of putting aside all distractions, external thoughts and previous feelings and living in the present situation: feeling, listening and living fully in the moment.
And how to do the exercises?
There are techniques, exercises and also many guided practice videos to show you how to get started. But at the beginning, it is important to know that the exercise is intentional and will require dedication and self-control to achieve results.
A good way to start is with breathing exercises, as they help connect our actions to our thoughts. And it doesn't even have to be a super elaborate exercise because the moment you start paying more attention to your breathing, the exercise begins.
