December 1st will be celebrated at the 38% mark. This is the percentage of adolescents between 13 and 17 who have already started their sexual life, according to IBGE. Despite the number, public schools in the country do not have recommendations for sexual education. 

According to the agency, in a study launched this year, 60% of regular education students said they had suffered some type of discrimination because of their sexual orientation.   

Moralizing and evangelizing public education in Brazil is not an old project. In 2019, MEC number 2, Iolene Lima, said that public education would be a Christian worldview.

“The student learns that the author of the story is God. The director of geography is God. God made the plains, made the reliefs, made the climate", explained the then executive secretary of the ministry. 

False moralism is not the only face of convenience. Furthermore, according to IBGE, only 1 in 5 teenagers say they have purchased a condom at a health unit. The exclusionary vision matches the country’s clinical picture. Currently in Brazil, young people are the epicenter of HIV contagion. 

The blindness of this population is intentional. After all, raising barriers to obtaining protection, harming the fight against misinformation, moralism to the detriment of health, is convenient in the country of convenience.
